On one of our computers, performance has degraded significantly
during
simple desktop operations.
Example 1 (opening files):
When I open MS Excel from the programs list, then do a File->Open
[file on
desktop], it takes 1 second. HOWEVER, when I double click on the same
file
from the Windows Desktop, it takes 3-4 minutes to load Excel and the
spreadsheet.
Example 2 Context menus:
Right clicking on any desktop icon takes 1-2 minutes to open the just
the
context menu. This applies to document icons, shortcuts, and system
icons
as well (My Docs, My Computer, etc.)
