Music Noise

Whenever I play any music file (mp3, wav, etc) using WinAmp, MusicMatch,
or Media Player 9 I get random noise / distortions during the song.
Never at the same place; but it happens often. I've defragged, cleaned
up, deleted temp files, deleted adware, and reinstalled sound drivers,
but nothing seems to cure it. Does anyone have any ideas what could be
causing this?
Thanks,
Jim

Is this on a laptop?

If it is, it could be the Infra-Red causing interference with the sound
card...

Try disabling infra-red and see if it makes a difference...

cheers

Hi Robert,
No, it's on my desktop. It seems the only "cure" I've found is to reload
W2k. The system then works OK for about 6 months. But afterwards I start to
notice the random noise once in a while. After another month or so, the noise
occurs more frequently, so the condition seems to deteriorate over time.
Thanks,
Jim
