Msn messenger virus?

My msn messenger and itunes stopped working so we think it is due to a virus.
When we tried to do a clean installation of msn messenger a message pops up
saying that there's an error writing to file
C:/ProgramFiles/MSNMessenger/psmsong.dll and that we need to verify access to
that directory. We don't understand what the message means and we contacted
support from msn themselves but they told us it was a problem concerned with
Microsoft XP and not the msn messenger itself. Hope you can help

Try reinstalling MSN messenger. I had a similar problem with Yahoo
Messenger, and reinstalling fixed it.

What is the virus/malware status of your computer? What antivirus do you
have installed - name, version, and whether your subscription is
active.
