I am using windows 2000 on my workstation. My mouse has been freezing and at
times has a mind of its own, running all over my screen. In the event log
under applications I get the following message
" The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft IntelliPoint )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
The following information is part of the event: point32.exe, 5.2.413.0,
point32.exe, 5.2.413.0, 00003512."

After I reboot my mouse comes back again and works fine. This is very
frustrating please help.

point32.exe hmmm... what's that? Righ-click it (it's likely in
C:\WINNT\system32) and choose Properties. Do you have a version tab and if
so is there a mfg copyright there? If not rename the file to point32.ex_
but make sure it is not running in Task Manager | Processes first or you
won't be able to.

Point32.exe is a Microsoft Intellimouse thingy George. I am one who
tries to have the fewest services running when I start my pcs but I have
always opted to place point32 as an autostart service with Intellimouse.
What does it do, well it allows the scroll wheel to work seemlessly,
as in no matter where you move the cursor you can move the scroll wheel
and whatever is under the cursor will scroll, as opposed to having to
click then scroll, or seeing the thing you were on a second ago scroll.
Doesn't work with everything but quite a few.

Maybe the OP should try reinstalling the Intellimouse drivers.
