more security udpate problem

I finally fixed the catalogue problem - sort of. no problem using other
secured sites (https) but with mcirosoft update, it get stuck at
Downloading Security Update for Windows XP (KB911927) (update 1 of 4)...
Preparing for download progress bar at about 1/5 of the way

Tried manual download and install KB by KB. Download was easy, install led
to unable to "verify update integrity" problem and noot installed!

I Googled around Microsoft. so far I came up empty handed

what else can I do?
