Go to Control Panel - Admin Tools – Services
or click Start, Run and type : services.msc

Make sure that IMAPI CD Burning is Started.
If not, double click it, set Startup type to Automatic, Apply.Exit and reboot.

Now in My Computer, right-click the drive, Properties, Recording Page and make sure 'Enable
recording' is checked

Is the drive really a cd-rw or a cd-rom as you first wrote? A cd-rom is
read-only and cannot burn; therefore, you would not have a recording
tab available.

If you are sure the drive is really a cd-rw and you just mistyped in
your first post, do you have third-party burning software installed?

If the drive is really a cd-rw, did burning ever work? If yes, what
changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?

Then that would explain why you don't have a recording tab. The drive is
Read Only and not capable of burning. Replace with a burner if you
like.

:

Make sure the Imapi service is started. Go to Start | Run. Type in
services.msc. Hit ok. Scroll to IMAPI Cd-Burning Com Service. Double
click on it. Set the startup type to automatic, and start it. Then
open My Computer, right click on the CD drive, choose properties,
Recording tab. Put a tic mark in enable recording.
