CD-RW properties recording tab is missing

In device manager the CD-RW properties recording tab is missing.
I have deleted the driver and reinstalled but to no avail.
The CD-RW is a LG GCE8480B and it comes up as this in the properties???!!!
Any suggestions please.

I have also downloaded a driver from drivers.com and tried to force an
update but all windows says is: "the specified location does not contain the
information about your hardware"

Hi Guy,

In the Device Manager, there hasn't ever been a recording tab for CD/DVD's.
Perhaps, you have mis-worded your question? In the meantime.....

For all other Auto-Play/Run issues, do some reading here and good luck!

I think you the "recording" tab you are referring to appears
when you right-click the device itself, and select Properties.

The inbuilt burning just does not work with some drives, in which case
the tab will be removed. As a check, go to Control Panel - Admin Tools
- Services and look for IMAPI CD Burning

It should be on Automatic and Started. If not, double click, get
Startup type on Automatic and Apply, then reboot so it is running when
things are setting up devices.

But if not, cut your losses and get third party software
