Please kindly help me how to troubleshoot this error. I
was able to download and install the Microsoft
Antispyware, however I am having the difficult opening it
when I click on the Microsoft Antispyware Icon. It was
not opening and all I kept getting was the Error 101 then
it got frozen followed by another error 1904.Module.
C:\Windows\System32\GCCollection.dll failed to register

Anything you can do to help me and show how to fix this
problem would be greatly appreciated.

Please reply ASAP.

Thank You.

Uninstall MS anti-spyware via Add/Remove Programs in Control
Panel > reboot > install a *fresh* copy.

Or >
*Assuming* XP? Type "appwiz.cpl" (no quotes) from your Run >
Dialog Box > scroll to _as above. Click on the "Remove" button.

I'm going to post what the program Help file has to say about error 101 and
have you try that route out and see if it solves this--or where you get
stuck. In addition to that, Microsoft developers are actively interested in
the errors.log file from people seeing this error.

You won't get feedback or help from them but it will help be certain that
they understand the breadth of the issues that are resulting in these
errors.

This file by default on most machines will be in c:\program files\microsoft
antispyware\errors.log

Please send the file to: (e-mail address removed)

Use Error 101 as the subject header of the email.

Here's the help file text:

* If you see a dialog box with the following message after you start your
computer or when you start Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware, you need to repair
or reinstall Windows AntiSpyware. The following message can also refer to
Error 102 or Error 103:

Warning: Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware has encountered a critical error
(Error 101). Please restart Windows AntiSpyware and run the program again.
If you continue to experience this problem, please uninstall the program and
install the most recent version of Windows AntiSpyware. You can use Add or
Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall this version of Windows
AntiSpyware.

You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove Programs in Control
Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Change. Click Next, and then
click Update.

If you see the critical error message again, uninstall Windows AntiSpyware
and reinstall it. To do this, use Add or Remove Programs in the Windows
Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Remove. You can
reinstall Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware at
www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software.

I have the same problem but can not fix until now. The
log file has been sent to (e-mail address removed). However,
this could not help me to solve this problem. Also, i
tried to remove and reinstall this program several times
but the status is not better. During installing, I
received the message "error 1904.Module.
C:\Windows\System32\GCCollection.dll failed to register
HRESULT-2147220473 Contact your support personnel.".
After finished, I experience the error 101 when I tried
to start the MS antispyware program. Anyone have other
solution.

Here's what I can think of to try.

Download the Windows Installer Cleanup tool:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Uninstall Microsoft Antispyware. If you are unable to uninstall it without
an error, use the cleanup tool to remove the install information from the
system.

Shut down any processes related to Microsoft Antispyware, and delete all
files in the installation folder.

Log in as Administrator.

Reinstall Microsoft Antispyware.

If all that doesn't do the job, let me know.
