Macromedia Flash Player 8

When i load certain web sites they tell me i need macromedia flash player to
use this site. Macromedia Flash Player is installed on my computer. why are
they asking me to download if it is already there. i think it is there
because i find it listed in mycomputer add/remove list of programs. i use xp
pro and my IE is microsoft and version 6.0. How would i check if it is
loading correctly with my browser?

Did you actually visit Macromedia to download their Flash player to be sure
you have the LATEST version? Sounds like the web page requires features in
version *8* and that is not the version you have installed.
