Lost video card after unsuccessful driver upgrade

After unsuccessfully trying to upgrade drivers for Radeon 9200 on my XP,
system froze.

After reboot, XP will not recognize the hardware card for Radeon 9200, even
after System Restore

Go to control panel/add&remove and remove the ATI video drivers and control
panel........do not reboot yet
right click My computer/hardware/device manager..find your video card and
uninstall it
Then reboot
XP should now recognize it and load XP generic Radeon drivers.
Now install the Radeon Drivers off the ATI website and follow their instructions

Thanks, but XP didn't "see" the card. It wasn't in the Device Manager.

This morning, tho, after a power off, all seems to be ok. A restart didn't
seem to help.

Now I'm a little hesitant to try again to update the video card and then SP2
