linksys befsr41 v.2 firmware version 1.45.7 One way voice!!!

Before msnmsgr 6.0, we were able to do the voice without
any problems behind the router...

Now after we upgraded to 6.0, I've updated firmware
version to the latest...it definitely is UPnP enabled...

What happens now is that the other party can hear our
voice without any problems...but we can't hear any thing
they say!!!

I assume this is because the NAT, packets coming towards
us can't find my machine which is behind the router...

What do I need to do to get the voice working both ways?

I assume I need to set up port forwarding on the router...?

My OS is Windows 2000 Professional.

I found firmware 1.45.7 not to be so good. I use 1.44.2 and messenger
seems ok. Make sure UPnP is enabled on the router, is UPnP installed
on Windows 2000 ? UPnP should take care of port forwarding, you dont
need to set it.

What happens now is that the other party can hear our

What I do as a workaround for this (and again for me it only became a
problem with MSN Messenger 6 and Windows Messenger 5) is that *I*
initiate the conferences. If I "accept" an audio/video request made by
someone outside my router, then I get the same as you are describing -
the other person can see/hear me perfectly, but I don't receive
anything. [aside: Yes I have UPNP enabled and everything, and I see
the port mappings appear on it from Messenger as it should; this is a
single specific problem that just started happening, and which I _can_
work around as described here - but it IS annoying though.]

Try and see what happens if _you_ (inside your router) initiate the
conference; maybe it'll be an ok workaround for you until either your
router vendor changes their firmware or Microsoft un-does whatever
changed in this respect in the latest Messenger.
