Linking an Object in a PPT file saved as PPS

I have linked some word file in Power Point Template and want to save the PPT
as Power point show.
When i am saving the file as PPS, the objects are seen but can not be
accessed.
I will really appreciate for any possible solution

The only difference between PPS and PPT are the way they open with the full
version of PowerPoint. PPS opens in the Slideshow mode, and PPT opens in the
edit mode. What do you want to do? If it is just to edit the presentation,
just change the file extension from pps to ppt and then open it
