LG External DVD Rewriter

Please can somebody help me? My internal dvd rewriter stopped working so
today i went and bought an external lg dvd rewriter but once again it is only
being recognised as a cd drive. The location in properties shows 0 file
system is RAW manufacturer is standard cd-rom drive. I dont understand what
is wrong, please can someone help me solve this problem. Thank you

Does your drive not actually work? Windows XP often seems to recognise DVD
drives as 'CD Drive' in My Computer. It seldom seems to affect the way the
drive actually works. Why it does this is not known.
