Laptop slow start up - "loading personal settings"

R

Rocky

I have a Toshiba P-15 and upgraded to Windows XP PRO.

Start up time seems like 2-3 minutes each time regardless
if I'm on my LAN at the office or off the LAN anywhere
else.

I enter the password and the message"Loading Personal
Settings" appears along side the Windows logo. The log on
page reamins and the machine is unresponsive to clicks of
the mouse until the desktop appears.

My laptop was very fast when I first purchased it and
slowed down once I upgraded to Windows XP Pro. My old 800
mhz workstation using XP Pro is up in 45 seconds.

Toshiba says they don't support Windows XP Pro. CompUSA
upgraded saying they do it all the time.

Thanks in advance.

Notebook computers require specialized drivers which are available
from the manufacturer's support website. Visit the Toshiba support
website and download all the available Windows XP drivers for your
specific Toshiba notebook model, including the video adapter, audio
and others. There maybe also be a BIOS update available.
