For goodness bloody sake....

How much time does MS think mere mortals have got, to WADE through all this
crap. Can't they explain in simple english what patches I need to get
......I mean ....look at this lot :-

I'd like to switch on "Autoupdate" but, then what will happen is that a BAD
Nvidia graphics driver will go in and I'll have no picture !!!!!!

device drivers and optional updates are NOT downloaded via AU, only critical updates are. you must use WU website to manually retrieve optional updates and device drivers. this is stated on the WU site, read it carefully.

Richard;
Install all Critical Updates.
Not much to wade through if you regularly check (at least monthly) for
and install Critical Updates.
You can tell Windows Update not to remind you of a specific update if
you do not want to see it again.
