Java Applets

I would like to know how to get a game to work that needs
applets from java to be enabled. I have XP home Edition .
I have checked the tools option in Internet Explorer 6
And the applets are supposedly enabled. We have two
computers on a network and niether one of them will work
on sites that need Java Applets. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.
