Irfanview scroll problem

Can anyone please advise me why the HORIZONTAL scroll bar does not work in
Irfanview when viewing pictures larger than the screen? The vertical one
works fine.

Paul
in View>Display Options check "fit images to window" and you won't have to
scroll

I use slowview so I'm not sure but doesn't irfanview have a hand tool?
So you can move any way you want.

I've used several different versions of IrfanView and they all allow
horizontal scrolling. Sounds like something screwy with your system.

Oh I apologize to all - I did not mean Irfanview - I meant Xnews. The
horizontal scroll bar does not work in Xnews.
Sorry about the wrong information

I did a search in on "scroll" in the manual. Perhaps someone inserted
the following command into your Xnews.ini under the [Display] section:

HideHorzScrollBar

Whether to hide the horizontal scroll bar in the article viewer, even if
the text is too wide to fit in the window. Set to 1 to maximize screen
space. You can still scroll left and right with the keyboard regardless.

Wow, after all these years I learned this! Thanks Olfart. It was annoying
until you mentioned this. I wonder why in view>display> "fit window to
image" is recommended (running vers. 3.85)

Nope.

Yes, it does.
Right click on the image and you get the 'hand tool'.

Hand tool is there, just right click and hold your mouse button.

Hmm. In v3.85, right-clicking on an image brings up a menu. But I DO get
the hand by right-clicking inside of selections, so that the selection box
can be moved. Thanks for the clarification.

Go to properties - Misc. 1 tab - check or uncheck item : Use right mouse button
for context menu (default: scrolling)

When in Picture froups - turn off Word Wrap. And the scroll bar will work
