Internet - Work Offline Message

I have DSL and running windows XP.

I am getting the following message on a consistent basis:

Work Offline:
No connection to the internet is currently available. To view Internet
content that has been saved on your computer click work offline.

Click try again to attempt to connenct.

Work Offline
Try Again

So then I click on Try Again, and the internet comes back on. Do you guys
know why am I getting this message and what could I do to no longer get this
message.

I think this might have began to occur either when I downgraded my dsl to a
lower speed or when I network a labtop to this computer.

Really appreciate your help

if you have ZA see if your internet adapter is in the trusted zone, if not
change the zone to trusted.

Yes, I have Zone Alarm and I have been getting the following messages:

1st Alert
Protected: The firewall has blocked internet access to your computer (TCP
Port 2869) from 192.1XX.X.X (192.1XX.X.X)(TCP Port 1030)(TCP Flag: S)

2nd Alert
Protected: The firewall has blocked internet access to your computer (TCP
Port 2869) from 192.1XX.X.X (192.1XX.X.X)(TCP Port 1031)(TCP Flag: S)

Third Alert
Protected: The firewall has blocked internet access to your computer (TCP
Port 2869) from 192.1XX.X.X (192.1XX.X.X)(TCP Port 1032)(TCP Flag: S)

I am not sure this alerts should be trusted or not. Do still need to
change the zone to trusted? How would I do that?
