Internet sharing

Hi, got a problem with getting internet to both my computers,
I used to have 0.5Mbit broadband and it worked fine (Internet goes through
my computer and shares it to my brothers)
But a few days ago we changed internet provider and got 8Mbit and now i cant
seem to get internet working on my brothers computer. I get the internet on
mine but I cant activate the internet sharing. Ive tried running the guide
and when trying manually i get the message (translatated from swedish)

"An error ocurred when trying to activate internet sharing, Internet sharing
can not be activated. A LAN-connection is already configurated with the
IP-address that is necessary for automatic IP-addressing"

Ive tried everything I can think of, running the guide several times,
manually changing IP-address, maybe i'm doing this wrong anyway..

Oh, and in network connections folder I can see somtimes an Internet
connection gateway or something i didnt use to see with my old internet,
(image of a globe and a computer) I think thats causing the IP conflict but i
have no idea how to solve it.

really need help with this one and excuse my english. its kinda hard to
explain my problem when everything in my computer is in swedish

(oh, btw, for those who wonder why im in the english newsgroup, the swedish
one sucks :p)

Your English is quite acceptable. Frankly, better than some of the juveniles
who post here in American English asking for help. ;)

If the problem that you're experiencing is related to your change in ISP, maybe
a description of the two different services would be helpful. Maybe even
providing the name of each ISP would help, as maybe an Internet search would
turn up notes from others with your problem.

I would also appreciate ipconfig information, and maybe any other details which
this article (currently under development) might inspire you to provide:

Internet connection sharing sets the machine to use the IP address
192.168.0.1 on the LAN connection.
But it's found that some other machine on the LAN is already using that IP
address.

It sounds to me like there is another PC with Internet Connection Sharing
enabled on the network.

That would explain why it's telling you 192.168.0.1 is in use.
Also, it explains the presence of the Gateway device.

Go round all other PCs and see which one has an IP address of 192.168.0.1,
and check to see if it has Internet Connection Sharing turned on by mistake.

Or go to a command prompt, and try "nbtstat -A 192.168.0.1".
That will list the machine name that is using 192.168.0.1.

All ISPs do not support (or permit) internet sharing connections (e.g.
AOL) - most prevalently indicated by conflict with 192.168.0.1 address

Along with the excellent advice you've gotten from Chuck and Ron (and yes, I
also agree, your English is perfectly acceptable!) you might check to see if
the new Internet service included a router or other device that's using the
192.168.0.1 address, in which case you probably don't need ICS since a
router should be able to share the connection between all PCs on the
network.

hehe, jag har gjort det och får oftast dåliga svar, engelska är större alltså
mer möjligheter till bra svar
inget personligt ;)
