That's because you are not solving the actual problem - a corrupt Atapi.sys!
This usually means that you have Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools or simular
program installed. To check, go to the ...\system32\drivers folder and
right click ATAPI.sys (make sure you have enabled viewing hidden/system
files), if you get a MS file version then this is not your issue.

However, if the file does not have an MS tag on it then delete the file! XP
will replace it from its cache with a non-corrupted file. This one should
have the MS version, etc when doing a properties for it. At that point you
can install the SP2 update. Make sure you do not restart the computer until
the update is complete as on restart it will again corrupt the file.

Good Luck,
Len

ok, thankyou!
But when SP2 is installed will Alcohol 120% replace the ATAPI.sys file so
that Alcohol 120% will work properly or will i have to re-install Alcohol
120% so that it will work properly? or cant Alcohol 120% and SP2 be
installed on the same computer at the same time?
