Installing Internet Explorer 6 Installation Problem

Hi

I downloaded Internet Explorer 6 from the Moicrosoft Website. When I tried
to Install it it went through the process but I got an error message at the
end "Set Up was unable to install all the components". I cliked Help & I got
this message. "It appears you have the correct set up files, but the
installation failed. Try closing down all other programmes and try running
Setup again"

The reason I downloaded IE6 was so I could get an upgrade of my Antivirus
Protection (Norton). I tried to install Norton Internet Security 2005 but
this has failed also because IE is not properly installed. To make matters
worse it has deleted my old Antivirus software from the computer.

I would appreciate any help you can give me please.

O

oops!!

If you're running WinME, try this:

Go to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View:
- Select "Show hidden files and folders", click Apply - OK

Create a folder named "Old uninstall".

Go to folder C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/Uninstall Information.

Now Edit - Select All - Cut all files.

Open "Old uninstall" folder and paste the files.

You will now be able to install all the troublesome components.

If everything works as expected, you can delete the "Old Uninstall" folder
and the files you moved.

Good luck,

Zee
