Can't Download Internet Explorer 6

Tried downloading from the net but failed even with
suggestions from public forums.
The "C:\Downloads\ie6setup.exe"/c:ie6wzd.exe (which
doesn't exist on my computer)/d/s:""#E" did not work.
So I decided to order the CD-ROM for Internet Explorer 6.
The exact same problem resulted. During installation, the
progress goes 1%, 2% then the progress jumps to eighty-
some per cent and eventually goes to 100%.
Six components were not installed, included Internet
Explorer 6 Web Browser. Upon selecting "Help", I get the
message that says the the correct set-up files appear to
be installed.
I had previously disabled both security programs.
HELP!!! I have six hours into getting IE6 installed.

Hi Tommy

What version of Windows do you have? It is always important to let us know
as there is sometimes a difference in the way problems can be handled for
some, especially Windows XP.

Make sure your Anti-virus program is disabled. You might also try installing
from Safe Mode.
