I downloaded the windows update, Internet Explorer 6, but cannot complete
it's installation. I continue to get this message when I install: "Setup
was unable to install all the components. Please close all applications and
try running Setup again. Run: ie6setup.exe from the C:\WINDOWS/windows
update setup files folder."

I have tried from windows update and from my desktop many times. I can only
install 75%.

I uninstalled the update and downloaded it again. After reboot, I tried to
install only to install 75% and get the same message!
Please help. Thanks! EQ

Clean your TEMP folders of all files.
Reboot and remove the files.

Remove the files from your Temporary Internet Files (Folders)

What version of Windows do you have?

If you currently have Windows 95, 98, or ME updating to 6.0 may not be
a wise move.

Internet Explorer 5.5 service pack 2 is the most stable for Win95, 98,
ME.

I had all sorts of issues with Internet Explorer 6 on Windows 98. The
6.x line does not work on Windows 95, and doesn't work very good on
Windows 98 or Millennium Edition (ME).

Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't have Internet Explorer 5.5 service
pack 2 (sp2) for download anymore. You can download it from evolt.org
but some of us have had problems getting their download to install. I
got the 85MB full install from on-disk (
http://on-disk.com/ie55sp2.html ) on a CD for $3.00 and it works
flawlessly. It's the 84M full version not just the installer. It
includes Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Internet Tools, 128 bit
encryption, Java, etc.

I haven't bothered to install 6.0 because 5.5 works so well for me. It
has never crashed.

I have ME. When using my current Internet Explorer 5, it freezes up and is
extremely slow. My connection is with Time Warner Cable Earthlink.
Earthlink suggested that I update to IE6. I have a faster and smoother
connection using RealOne instead of Internet Explorer now. RealOne doesn't
use IE. I will continue to use RealOne until the Internet Explorer problem
is resolved.
I will try evolt.org. Wish me luck. Thanks. EQ
