Installed XP Service Pack 2 and now Internet Explorer does not wor

I installed the XP Service Pack 2 and when I connect to the internet via
People PC, the Internet Explorer is not working. It opens and keeps referring
to help pages but nothing will load. It is trying hundreds of pages
referencing help in the name but not loading any of them. it is almost as if
it is searching. I can select web sites from my history but they do not load.
It immediately begins the searching type process again. Any ideas?

I am only guessing, but I think I remember previous posts on this subject.

Check your Connections Settings in Internet Options. If you are using LAN
settings, uncheck both items in the Automatic configuration section.
Ah, I see from the PeoplePC home page that you are using a dial-up
connection, so just check your dial-up settings. You may have to contact
PeoplePC for instructions.
