Install Program Brcomes Unreponsive, Symantec's Systemworks

I'm trying to install Symantec's SystemWorks 2006. At some point the install
becomes unresponsive and the install does not complete. I've talked to
Symantec Technical help and they have a couple small apps to clean the
registry but it still doesn't help. Any ideas out there to get this
installed. One thing that happens is that I seem to lose the internet
connection for this PC during the install.

JS,
I'm using the CD from a box. The first problem I had was that when I tried
to Activate, I got I message that the product key had already been installed
too many times. I purchased it from a store in a sealed box and this was
only PC where installed. A few minutes ago I finally got the installation to
complete. During the install I removed the internet connection. This seemed
to be the trick. My only problem now is that the application says I have
only 290 days left and not 365. I will contact Symantec again.

I've used symantec apps for a number of years on several PC's, I finally
gave up with them in 2005 when I had similar probs, ie apps kept on
requiring registartion, and this on clean installs.
Many vendors, MS included, seem to be causing a great deal of problems with
their efforts to prevent piracy

JS,
Yes, symnrt.exe and symcln.exe. symcln.exe didn't seem to do anything. It it
installed now and Symantec Technical help was able to the liveupdate
working. Had to do a special boot with MSConfig tool.

I was finally able to get Systemworks installed and the secret seemed to be
to have no internet connection until I needed to get the latest virus
updates. After all this I noticed that I had only 290 days left of the 1
year subscription. I purchased and installed last Friday. I called Symantec
and they checked the S/N and found that the software had already been
installed 3 times before me. It was on 3/4/2006, 3/20/2006, and 4/24/2006.
The box I purchased was all sealed up and looked fresh.

Where did you purchase it at and did you let Symantec know about this so
others don't become victims of the same problem.
