install flash player 8

I constantly get message windows on the screen asking me whether to install
or not install flash player 8. I always click install, but its not
installed. Then awhile later I get the same message.

This is on my laptop. On my desktop it was installed without any message.
Something in one of my toolbars or in ie itself is preventing it.

Unfortunately, since Adobe bought Macromedia I no longer have the option to
download the installer and then install from my PC. Adobe will only install
directly.

Can somebody help me?

Of course. Both Microsoft beta and SpySweeper. Should I disable them and
try again from Adobe? I didn't have to on my desktop.

The problem is that internet explorer has blocked the flash8.ocx. the manage
add-ons in the tools menu has no option to unblock it. Its not like disable
and enable. There is no option to unblock.

What do I do?

Please include all of previous message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup.

MS Windows AntiSpyware Beta doesn't block it but SpySweeper might. Check
with SpySweeper support or RTFM.

Thanks, I downloaded it. However on the other matters, I don't know about
generally allowing active-x controls to be downloaded.

It wasn't spysweeper.
I downloaded it and tried to install. The install said Macromedia was on
the untrusted list. It gave me a link. Windows help came up. On IE I
clicked tools, internet options, content, publishers, untrusted. I selected
Macromedia and clicked remove. It asked me whether I wanted to removed the
credentials. One time I clicked no. Didn't work. Then I clicked yes,
didn't work. I rebooted. Yup. Macromedia is still untrusted. I didn't put
it there.

If you didn't register it as Not Trusted via MWAS or SpySweeper, another
application (e.g. NIS) with your, possibly tacit, approval.

Try disabling both MWAS' and SpySweeper's realtime protections, make the
change, and reboot.
