Flash player installs without permission

Does anyone know how I can get the stinking Adobe (formerly Macromedia)
Flash Player off my system and get it to *stay* off?

I've used both Adobe's Flash uninstaller and Adobe's manual uninstall
instructions, but every time I visit certain Web sites, including
www.pcworld.com and Adobe's own "About Flash" page, the damn thing goes
ahead and reinstalls itself without being asked.

Note that I've *never* given any Web page or internet application
permission to install Flash. As far as I'm concerned, it's a
trespasser. And I keep the "Enable Install-on-Demand" check box
unchecked in Internet Explorer, so it didn't get permission there,
either.

I'm aware that there are ways to block Flash from executing once
installed, like using the NoScript extension on Firefox, but that's not
good enough. I want it off my system altogether. Can anyone guide me
along? (Flash 9 is the version in question.)
