I'm packing it up and sending it back

I'm givng up on Vista for now.
I spent 400 dollar on this Pile of Beta crap and after 30 days I'm
giving up on it. I expect a 400.00 piece of software to at least be
useable but I'm sick of all the "not responding" programs and unkown
failures.

I think it has promise but it isn't ready for my money.
I'm off to the UPS office and back to XP.

Try Unbuntu. It's free and they'll even pay the postage to send you the CD.
http://www.ubuntu.com/ No product key, no activation, no WGA, no ISS, no
DRM and you can install the same CD on as many computers as you and your
friends like.

when is the new version coming out...?

Now that vista is a flop there is much pressure to get ubuntu even more user
friendly...

its strange because there were so many better distros.. I really don't
understand why people liked ubuntu so much.. I think there was a push from
distrowatch...funding to keep it first in the list...
now its getting better.. but it was number 1 when it was still far worse
than Mandriva or suse or some others...

there are 2 significant steps in linux now:

1) Unified installer for all Linux distros
2) Free development for drivers from programmers for the hardware
companies...

if the 2 things above work... there is a light in the tunnel at last...

also dell was it? They had some kind of survey and people wanted computers
with linux on them.... so that shows that vista is destroying Microsoft....

there is something about linux that makes it more powerful than any MS OS.

Freedom (this has many dimensions)

Another smart user. Seeing Vista for what it is. Best to go back to XP for
now and in 2-3 years, Microsoft will release another disaster.

Good idea as incompetent users need not apply. MS should have initiated
some sort of per-purchase test in order to qualify potential users and
separate the wheat from the chaff.
Obviously we know which category you fall in.

He isn't incompetent for using a bug filled OS like Vista with numerous
issues. He's smart to cut his losses now and be productive again.

When Vista is ready in about a year, it might be worth looking into. I'm
not saying that everyone has problems, but for the people who do, it's
better to hold off.

Do you think you could be more arrogant about it?

Let me see - the last time MS brought out a new windows version that
worked before SP2 was . . .

One definition of insanity is repeating the same experiment time after
time and expecting a different result.

Vista isn't as bad as XP was- but still a major headache- especially with
someone with NVIDIA chips on their board. I have NVIDIA 0 + 1 raid set up and
since I did the upgrade to Vista from XP everything went OK. After I tried
any updates (Feb 5 NFORCE platform drivers) ITS BEEN BSOD on ANY attemps
since. Don't think MICROSOFT is 100% of blame - except the fact they should
have waited maybe a couple months more for suppliers to be able to provide
adequate drivers.

The first part was. This wasn't:

"Obviously we know which category you fall in."

Now, the license I would support would be a short course on computers as a
part of the purchase and, upon graduation, you get a license to "drive"
your computer. This license would be good for any and all future computers
with refresher courses when a new OS comes out. Alas, this would mean that
the vendors and software writers cared about their paying customers.

Imagine what the Internet would be like if that was done for Win95.

If a typical Windows user had to first pass a test before using the system,
Windows' share in the marketplace would probably fall to 3%. Mind you, that
isn't a bad idea at all, as it would prevent clogging up the Net with all
the spam sent out from zombied Windows boxes due to the inherent insecurity
of Windows and the stupidity of the ordinary Windows user.

Cheers.

First everyone complains about how long Vista is delayed and now you want to
delay it more so that NVIDIA can write drivers for their products that don't
cause blue screens?
