iexplore has caused an error in kernel32.dll

Since dowloading IE 6 (after being guided into it by the
automatic updater) and installing it, I'm getting lots of
the following errors.

'ixeplore has caused an error in Kernel32.dll'
'iexplore will now close'

I used to get this on the odd occaision with IE 5, but
it's monotonously regular with IE 6. Any site wth lots of
images (eg. www.disney.com, www.tucows.com,
www.skysports.com/skysports/home) produces this error, but
they all render perfectly fine with Netscape 7.1

I've done some searching on the Internet and found other
instances of this, but the solution is to install IE 5.5!

Has anyone else experienced this problem with IE 6 and
managed to resolve it? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
