IE6 Version? Cipher Strength?

Thanks in advance.

I have a XP box with IE6 that is having trouble with secure sights. When I
check to see the Cipher Strength and Version(help/about IE) both are blank.
A MS knowledge base article covers this. As advised, I have reinstalled
IE6. The problem persists. MS suggests reinstalling Windows. Is there an
easier answer?
