ie6.0/xp freezing

Hi,
Periodically when I am using ie 6.0 on xp my system will freeze up.
However, when I shut down ie 6.0 then the system "thaws" and I can get back
to work.
After thawing if I restart ie 6.0 the system runs fine for a while then
freezes up again.
Then I have to go through the entire exercise all over.
I am thinking about killing ie 6.0 and re-installing.
Any suggestions?

Hi,

Option 1:
=======
Does the problem occur when you scroll up and down the page? Then download
the latest drivers for the video card for your system.

If you have an ATI card installed, in the system.ini file add this to the
[display] section:

DevBMP=0 (thats a zero)

Check that you have at least V6.1 of Directx installed by running
dxdiag.exe. If not, go to www.microsoft.com/directx to update to the latest
version.

Option 2:
========
Try reinstalling from the INF files.

1. Click Start -> Run
2. Type the following command
3. "rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
%windir%\inf\ie.inf"
4. When prompted for the CD, Insert the windows XP cd
5. Then update to the lattest version of IE from

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.asp
This fixes most problems. If not, see below the KB Article:
