IE Search Companion now blank

I had a problem with a rogue website (prosearch) which installed a search
toolbar in IE6 and caused the IE search companion (that opens up when you
click the search button) to stop functioning. After using someone's
suggestion to use ToolbarCop to remove the rogue
search toolbar, which I was glad for, I found that IE6's Search Bar button
still doesn't work anymore. When you click on the search button, the
left-pane opens but is blank
and it never gets to a search page. Even the "customize" button doesn't
work.

Any suggestions?
