Search Companion

I have a new HP Notebook with Windows XP as it's operating system. For some
reason I am unable to access Search Companion in Internet Explorer. When I
attempt to customize, I an limited to getting only Goggle search when
clicking on Search Assistance, MSN Search when I click on single search, and
when I click on Search Compaion, I receive a note instructing me to click on
Search in Tool Bar then click change preferences, this last doesn't work in
that Search Companion is now where to be found, at least by a novice such as
I. Any help well be greatly appreciated.
