IE Browser Search

For two entire days, I've tried resolving our IE Search
problem. I've downloaded Ad Aware, I've loaded and
installed numerous updates from Microsoft (which I think
has caused another problem on my PC that I'll address
later).
The Search button on the IE toolbar displays a different
screen now and after entering a search criteria, seems to
go to ShopNav. whe I try to change the Search
configuration with IE to use the Search Campanion, the
instructions state to nexxt click on "change
preferences". I don't have this option. Please Help.

Sudden change in the Search engine settings in Internet
Explorer indicates your browser is hijacked. Before
attempting to repair the Search to defaults, first scan
the system for parasites and remove them.
SpyBot S&D searches your harddisk for Spyware and Adware

NOTE: You *must* update the pattern files before
scanning. Otherwise, there is not use of having Anti-
virus/Anti-spyware applications.

This will remove malware from the PC. Next, reset the
Search Engine. Click the Search button in the toolbar >
Customize > AutoSearch Settings > Select a provider from
the list. Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Options >
Programs > "Reset Web Settings"

well i had to make changes to the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main ---fields=
search bar, search page and start page. AND also delete a .dll called
xplugin.dll located in winnt\system32 folder.. that finally seemed to clear
it up.
