IE and Outlook keep switching to Work Offline

I installed a new upgrade that was automatically
downloaded a couple of days ago and since then IE and
Outlook keep switching to Work Offline. I have looked in
the Tools/Options menus in Outlook to make it stay online
and do not see any settings to force this. My internet
connection is staying up so this is not the issue. Any
ideas?
