IE 7 Closes Intermittently

I have a problem with Internet Explorer closing with the error message
"Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close".

This only happens on certain websites, usually if I close a pop-up
window, minimize or move it. However sometimes it seems to happen
spontaneously.

This was happening with IE6 so I updated to IE7 but the problem still
persists and I can't find anything useful on the Microsoft site and
they want £40 + vat for a phone call to tech support!

Can anyone suggest a fix for this issue?

Try running IE7 with all add ons disabled.

Open Internet Explorer, and then click the Tools button.
Click Manage Add Ons, and then click Enable or Disable Add Ons.

Thanks Rock

You were right, it was an add-on that was causing the problem, though
I haven't tried figuring out which one. I had to re-enable the Java
console, and everything is ok, so it wasn't that.
As a matter of interest is malware the same as spyware?

I have a really good Spyware and Anti-Virus Programmes, both of which
were free and have free updates. They are spybot search and destroy,
and AVG antivirus.

Thanks again for your help.

Greg.

You're welcome. Malware is a generic term for malicious software. It
includes spyware, adware, etc. To determine which add on is the problem add
them back one at a time.
