IE 6 will not download files

I have been trying to get my Win 98 SE updated with the most recent Flash.
It won't download giving no error. If I try to download a file from another
site, same issue. Using Firefox the files download, but for Flash, it is the
Firefox version.

Any way of getting IE to download again? Since it worked in Firefox, I
figured my Firewall was not blocking it. I also set my IE security settings
to low and it still didn't help.

I really don't want to overwrite the OS again.

Thanks!

Hi oldybutgoody :)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

First clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete files
(and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often recommended
that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

Next... you have to set this option for each file type and the route to
Folder options> File types will be slightly different, depending on your OS:

From Windows Explorer> View> Folder options> File types
OR Explorer> Tools> Folder options> File types
OR Ctrl Panel> Folder options then File Types. Select [file type]> Advanced.
Put a check by "Confirm open after download."
You should then get the "Open or Save" dialog for each download.

Cannot Download with Internet Explorer

A possbile workaround... right-click the download link and choose "Save
target as." You should be able to choose the download directory.

Hope this helps.
