IE 6.0 History

IE 6.0 cannot clear history via Internet tools box. They
continue to show in IE history but if right click Start
and Explore they do not show in folder. I have refreshed
after clearing history, logged off and back on and they
are still there. Settings set to 1 or 0 days. When I
clear history via internet tools it takes 5 to 10 seconds
to perform tasks. I'm running XP home 3.0ghz computer
with 512mb. Any ideas?

With no IE windows open, try it from Control Panel> Internet Options>
General> Clear History.

You might need to delete the damaged History folder- a new one will be
created on restart.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP.

Another program might be locking your history.

The ActiveX filter of McAfee (and possibly other) anti-virus programs can
interfere with the history function of IE. Disable the ActiveX filter.
