how to restore menus/toolbars in word2000

in my word2000 all the menus and toolbars have disappeared. when opening a
blank word2000 document i am presented with nothing but a black paper but no
toolbars or drop down menus - when i search help to restore them, every tip
starts with 'from the tools menu...' but my problem is there are no menus
from which to start from - help pls

well, when i hit the 'word' button on my microsoft intellipro keyboard a
blank word doc pops up without menus and toolbars (my original problem). i
followed your advice and with the word doc still open i go to start, hit run
and type in the '/a' switch fix. yes, it works find, the word doc immy takes
on all menus and toolbars. however when i close that one and hit the word
button again, i again get a blank word doc with no toolbars and menus. i have
to go back to start, go to run and type in the 'a/' switch thing to get menus
and toolbars. will this be a costant thing or can i permanently change it to
open with menus and toolbars? thaks for your help...

never mind...i realized that your a/ switch should be run without word being
open - i did that and now each new word doc opens with full menus and
toolbars - thanks for all your help, i had previously blamed my 13 year old -
guess i owe him an apology (@*%&$#)!! have a nice weekend.
