How to reinstall a MS WIA driver for a scanner?

Dima

Hello!
How to reinstall MS WIA driver for a scanner HP scanjet 5p? The MS WIA
driver was installed automatically from the beginning and the scanner
worked. But then HP recommended to intall HP DeskScan 2.9 for advanced
scanning. The HP DeskScan 2.9 installation shows an error No IRQ for HP SCSI
card, although HP SCSI card works fine, has IRQ 10 and does not conflict
with anything. Then HP
recommended to intall HP PrecisionScan 2.03 pro. HP PrecisionScan 2.03 pro
caused a pink tint on photos. I uninstalled it. Now Windows Scanner Wizard
does not see the scanner. Autoupdate of a driver does not reinstall the WIA
driver. The manual driver update does not show the MS WIA driver or any
other signed driver for the HP scanjet 5p in the list.
Best regards,
Dima

Although I run a virus scan on the files before I offer them, you should as well
whenever receiving files from others.

Should work out just fine unless it decides to sqwauk about the drivers being
older, in that case you would have to uninstall the presently installed drivers
first. If the scanner gets connected after the drivers are installed, you will most
likely need to uninstall the present drivers first. If that's the case:

Create a new folder and extract the files from the .zip file into the newly created
folder.
Shut down and disconnect the scanner USB cable.
Boot to Safe Mode and uninstall Any/All scanjet scanner devices listed in Device
Manager.
In DM right click on the device and click Uninstall in the popup menu.
Close out back to the desktop when finished uninstalling any/all scanjet devices.
Open either MyComputer or Explorer.

Delete the contents of:

c:\documents and settings\your username folder\local settings\temp

c:\windows\temp

c:\prefetch

Close out of MyComputer or Explorer and reboot.

Follow the proper steps to install/connect the drivers/scanner when back at your
normal desktop.
When using the scanner/camera install wizard click the Next in the first window.
Click the Have Disk button.
Click the Browse button and navigate to the folder you extracted the files into.
Select the HPscan.inf file and click the Open button.
Click the OK button to start installing the drivers.

Thanks Brian for the driver!
Is this the driver which Windows XP installs from the beginning
automatically? Is it signed?

I believe so but can't say 100% for sure. I acquired them at
http://www.driverguide.com/ and the provider said they were files from an XP machine.
Checking the versions for the files that are on my machine match the versions of
those files and in the .inf file is "Copyright (c) 1997-2001 Microsoft Corporation;
Manufacturer: Microsoft Corp for Hewlett Packard".

Dear Brian and others,
The zip file disappeared from the http://basconotw.mvps.org/inq4.htm
I had sent the file to my e-mail box, but I just discovered that the e-mail
sending server deleted some files in the zip file.
How to get the driver now?
Best regards,
Dima

How did you send them to your email when that's a download link? Did you send them
after downloading them? If yes, why? Email containers should not be used for
storage.
I have placed them for a limited time on http://basconotw.mvps.org/inq3.htm for you
to try again.

Thanks Brian for replying and placing the file!
Yes, I send the zip file after downloading it at work. I may not bring out a
storage device from my work. What should be used for storage in the
internet?
Best regards,
Dima

That's different then if your sending it from work to yourself where you can get it
at home. I don't understand why the files would be stripped from the .zip, do you
have access to a report as to why? Why can't you download it from my page using a PC
at home or a friends PC?

I tried to download it from your page using a friends PC, but it was too
late.
I don't know why the security system stripped the files from the .zip.
