How to get rid of password prompt at startup

Hello.

My Windows XP keeps prompting me to enter a password at startup. I only
have one user account active, I've disabled the welcome screen and I've also
gotten rid of the password that I had in there previously. Now the password
is empty, but it still pops up a messagebox asking me to choose a user and
put in a password. How do I get rid of this messagebox, so that when I turn
the computer on, it opens immediately to my desktop without having to click
or press anything?

Thanks alot,
Nikolai.

- Click Start / Run
- Type this: control UserPasswords2 {OK}
- Click your user account, then untick the box that requires users
to enter a password.

Ok, I tried this, but it still doesn't work. Now it pops up a warning
message that says that my account is restricted! I've been comparing my
computer to another that is starting up fine, without any passwords or
welcome screens. There are a couple of differences that may provide some
further clues (but that I don't understand myself!).

1. my computer has a third user (other than mine and the guest, which is
disactivated) called: ASP.NET Machine A...
This user account is visible in the Control Panel -> User Accounts window,
in my computer but not in the other!

2. When I type <control UserPasswords2> into the other computer, the
password checkbox IS checked, even though no password prompt is displayed at
startup!

So I don't understand where the essential difference is that makes that
computer startup fine, and mine not!?!

Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Nikolai.

ps. is there a help file or a list on the web of the various commands that
can be used in Run?

Download Powertoys for XP's TweakUI. Install it and check in "Login"
section. Uncheck ASP.NET user.
