My son came home on break from Penn State and brought his hard drive with him
from his Dell computer. He wants to get his music off the hard drive so we
hooked it up in my non Dell computer as a slave. We can see all the files on
the slave hard drive with xp except his account. Which I can't
access..."Access denied" I have tried creating an account with his logon and
password but still cannot access his files on the slave hard drive. Any ideas
on how to get his music since I knnow the logon and password?

you need to take ownership...
instructions should be in "help" or else google for it

philo thanks for the reply but will my son need to reverse ownership when he
gets back to college or just plug the hard drive back in and logon as normal?

that's a very good question...
and I do not have an answer...
(hopefully some else will)

all I can say is next time...he should put the files in a seperate folder
that can be accessed...
such as C:\music

Ricky thanks for the info I'll make sure he starts up in safe mode then
regains ownership when he reinstalls the drive.
