How? Synchronize MS Office 2003 Outlook Contacts & Address BookEntries

*IMPORTANT NOTE* I am NOT talking about synchronizing with any
external device.

I note that my Contacts folder contents do NOT match my Address Book
listing.

Example; an entry I deleted from my Address Book is still shown in
Contacts folder. But any address I add to Address Book does show up in
Contacts.

Is there a way to ensure that entries in my MS Outlook Address Book
and Contacts folder are ALWAYS the same?

And yes, I have looked at various MS Outlook help files and sites; but
all deal with synchronizing external devices, etc. None provided an
usable answer to sync within Outlook.

They will be as long as you use the Contacts folder to add and delete, NOT
the addressbook view. All the Addressbook is, is a view of your contacts
folder with the following exceptions: the Addressbook view will only show
contacts with an electronic address, so if you have contacts that don't have
either a fax number or an email address then they will NOT show up in the
Addressbook view.

The Outlook Address Book doesn't hold any addresses itself. It holds 1 or
more address lists which contain contact information. Common address lists
are a Contacts folder, the Global Address List (when connecting to Exchange)
or an LDAP server (when connecting to another directory store).

You might want to tell us where exactly you are deleting these items from.

Hi MageMaster,

the Outlook Addressbook is a special kind of "View" to a selected Contact
folder.

The answer of your question:
Is there a way to ensure that entries in my MS Outlook Address Book
and Contacts folder are ALWAYS the same?

is: NO

A contact will be listed in the "Outlook Addressbook" ONLY if this contact
has an Email address or a Fax number. Without an Email address or a fax
number a contact will be never listed in the Outlook Addressbook.
Contacts folder.

Because if you delete a contact in the Outlook Addressbook, the email
address and the faxnumber of this contact will be deleted. ;-)
The contact is still available in the contact folder, but if you open this
contact, the email address and faxnumber is empty. ;-)

Maybe this information will be helpfull.

If you want to have the same contacts in the Addressbook as in the contcat
folder: Never delete an email address and be sure the all contacts have an
email address.
