How do you get rid of or move the PPT slide advance icon?

When running a PPT presentation, a "clear" icon (rectangle with
diamond and up-arrow) normally appears in the lower left corner of the
screen whenever the mouse arrow is made to appear. This icon is
useless to me and visually getting in the way of info and an action
button in that location.

Is there any way to either get rid of this icon, hiding it, or at
least moving it to a different location on the screen. I still want
to use the normal mouse and mouse arrow, but not have the icon there.

I could just tell you never to click on the screen, but you might not
consider that to be practical advice, and I wouldn't blame you.

Indeed, when I want to make sure that I never see the
sometimes-useful-but-often-unwelcome collection of icons, I make sure to
only navigate my shows with the space bar, because clicking on the screen is
the trigger that activates them.

When that is not possible, you can remove them by blanking the screen on and
off. Thankfully, the command for blanking a show (B on your keyboard) is
responsive enough that you can press it twice fast enough for your audience
to not pay it much mind...

Tomu,

I like the easy questions!

In powerpoint go to the Tools menu
Choose "options > view" untick the "show popup menu button"

While you are at it....untick popup menu on right mouse click (if you never use it).

Thank you all very much for the simple answer to this annoyance.
Being new to PPT I thought I could rely on the MS help but PPT XP Help
is anything but. I haven't encountered such a useless MS help in over
10 years. Thank God and techies for usenet.
