how do I know WD did a scan?

R

I have it set to run a scan at 12noon. Nothing came up to show it is
scanning. but when i go to the main page it says it did a scan: today at
12:01pm- ummm how do i know what "today" is? why doesn't it put a date
like: Today, June 16, 2006 12:01pm
For all I know it could say "today" every day before 12:00pm.

Does it create a log file somewhere I can check to see if it scanned?

Does it pop up a box only if it finds spyware?

thanks

I did find a way to determine if the scan was run.

While it is not the best way to determine the date, it will in fact tell you
if a scan was run after the scheduled time.

To do this you need to alternate between running a full scan and a quick
scan. When the notice posts that a scan was completed it will also post what
type of scan was done. Therefore, by changing back and forth from Quick to
Full you will see that the scan was run on a daily basis.

Hello Trish,

You can go to the System Event lºog:

Start, Run, eventvwr.msc <enter>

Click on the System event lºg

Go to View, choose Filter, and choose "windefend" in the source contrºl.

Look for yellow triangle entries that give the precise path and location of
what was detected, and use the button provided to paste the content of the
detection back to a messªge here.

Good luck

on the right side where it says type/name/ etc double click the item with
the yellow triangle or red circle.
It will open up and you can highlight the description and copy and paste
that
to paste it you highlight the whole message then click the crtl and C key
to paste it in here you click on the crtl and V key

Hello Robin,

Check the main page in WD, probably with the new Engine, one of the problems
is fixed. > why doesn't it put a date like: Today, June 16, 2006 12:01pm

Hi Robin,

Please disregard my post.

Only with the first installation of WD appear the date, after that, show
"last scan Today"

You are right, the team patrol this NG. ;-)

Hi Engel,
I would like to see a date posted for the last scan information. I do hope
MS will consider this. I would also like to see the icon display change to
indicate when real time protection is turned on and off.

A week or so back someone posted a link to download to your PC's desktop a
WD log. I have been using this at work and it is a handy tool.
