How do I attach as a shortcut?

In Outlook 2000 when you clicked on the attach icon and then selected the
file that you wanted to attach you had an option via a drop down box which
would allow you to Insert, Insert as Text, Insert as Attachment or Insert as
Shortcut. The insert as shortcut comes in handy when linking to a shared file
without using up the bandwidth of actually sending a copy of the file to the
recipient(s). With 2003 I can only see two options, Insert and Insert as Text.

Does anyone know how to send as a shortcut as was possible in previous
versions?

It's really quite annoying, I agree. I have no idea why they changed
something useful and functional like that.

Try this:

Insert hyperlink
Type: file
URL: //servername/share/filename.extension

If you have spaces in any part of the path, I think you'll need to use
double quotes.
