Attach an Item as Shortcut within a Task

I would like to be able to cross-reference from one task to another.

However, Tasks do not allow for insertion of Items as Shortcuts.

For a Task, the "Attach Item" button on the "Include" ribbon opens an
“Insert Item†dialogue box. Here, the “Insert as†options are limited to
“Text only†or “Attachmentâ€. I would like to insert another Task as a
“Shortcutâ€.

This limitation does not make sense given that the same dialogue box on an
Appointment, Contact or Journal Entry allows for “Insert as†a shortcut.

How can I overcome this limitation?

May I ask why you want to insert a shortcut to another task? Is this to
link related tasks (such as sub-tasks) or just to track them?

RE: May I ask why...

Sure.

The content of one task (Task A) may relate to another task (Task B), and I
don’t want to have to duplicate the content of Task A in Task B. Does that
make sense?

By the way, prior versions of Outlook allowed for shortcuts within Tasks.
When I converted to Outlook 2007, the functionality continued to work.
