hidden files

Hi, I've noticed that when I access a folder to see how
much space it's taking up, it indicates that there are
over 2000 files taking up over 40mb but when I open the
folder, it's empty so I can't remove the files...

specifically I'm talking about:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\TempIntFiles

I have set Xp to show all hidden files and system files
but still I can't seem to solve this problem...

I have this problem in several other folders as well.

How do I get rid of these phantom files?

Thanks

The Temp Internet files are a strange place they arent a
normal folder. To gain access one way is to go into Disc
cleaner and highlight temp internet files then hit veiw
files. in here you will see 4 folders and a dat file, if
you try to access them through windows explorer it wont
let you see them, you can normally delete the files if
you cant try rebooting then try again. the .dat file
holds a list of every website you have ever visited and
you cant normally delete it. unless you log on in another
user account or in safe mode as addministrator or with a
third party cleaning program that deletes them using a
bat file during reboot. This file can get large if un
checked .

Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, click Internet Options, on the
General tab under the heading: Temporary Internet Files click the Delete
Files button. A small Delete Files window will open, left click to put a
checkmark in the box to the left of the option: Delete All Offline Content,
then click the OK button at the bottom of that small Delete Files window.
For 40 MB of files it might take a few minutes, more or less depending upon
how fast your system is. When the files have been deleted close the
Internet Options window. You might want to use the Disk Defragmenter on
your hard drive after deleting 40 MB of files.

That folder is a special, with a complex structure; see properly when
you look at it through Internet Explorer's services or Control Panel -
Internet Options. Middle of the front page of that is a 'Delete Files'
for it; and if you click the Settings beside that you also can also View
files. Not that that is usually very helpful, and you should *not*
attempt to use it to delete files individually as it will confuse the
indexes to it
