Help With Internet Explorer

W

wendy

When I ping an address, for example,
ping www.yahoo.com

I get a reply.

BUT when I try and go to that site via Internet Explorer:
http://www.yahoo.com

I receive an error "Cannot find server"

A friend of mine tells me I need to reinstall IE, but I
can't seem to find out directions on doing that.

Any ideas?

Make sure Internet Explorer 6 SP1 is not running.
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control
Panel. (In Windows XP, click Start and then click Control
Panel.)
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
Select Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP 1.
Click Add/Remove (Change/Remove in Windows 2000 and
Windows XP).

Hey Paul,

Thank you for your suggestion. I did as you said. I went
into the control panel. Fond Internet Explorer 6 SP1, and
I clicked on the Add/Remove button. But it did not give
me an option to remove, just to repair, or reinstall.

I went ahead and reinstalled, and this did not fix the
problem.

It did do something. Because now, when I enter.
www.msn.com it actually moves and acts like it is trying
to connect to the page, instead of just sitting still to a
blank page.

But eventually, an error msg will pop up, and it
says, "Internet Explorer could not open the search page."
Any other suggestions?

Thank you, I appreciate it.
