help with hiding instant msg alerts on win xp

HI CAN YOU HELP AT ALL I have MSN messenger running on
windows xp - everytime i get an instant msg it pops up
and highlights on the taskbar on bottom of screen i have
my taskbar on auto hide and when i get a msg it pops up
where you can see someone typed me a msg any way to hide
this or stop it from bringin up my task bar????
